Dominican Republic 2018

Hi friends!

This trip was without a doubt one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL and significant in my life! Let me tell you all about it. It had been 5 years since I had seen my Dad and my grandparents! Let me explain why…

When I was pregnant with Luna four years ago, there was a huge problem with a plague transmitted by a mosquito called Zika. In the US, there was an alert amongst obstetricians and pregnant women were told to avoid travelling to the Dominican Republic and Mexico. My doctor told me clearly that she could not clear me for travel. After that, Camila arrived and honestly between the pregnancy, the birth, and having a newborn and toddler at home, I just didn’t get the chance to plan the trip to see my father.

This past February 2018, we decided to buy plane tickets and plan the whole trip…and what a big BLESSING! I spent every single day with my Dad! I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner with him! It may sound like I’m jumping of joy over a trifle but after not seeing him for 5 years, this was very special for me!

We visited the capital and, there, discovered a restaurant called “Pat’e Palo European Brasserie”. This restaurant is situated at the heart of the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, surrounded by 500-year-old walls that speak of the island’s rich history. That history goes as far back as the Golden Age of Piracy. It was truly an amazing experience in flavor and ambiance.

We walked all of the colonial Zone. I was even HAPPIER because I finally found the frame for the dining room I’d been looking for all along. It’s a huge 45 x 70 frame and simply beautiful!

For the first time ever, I let Camila walk barefoot through the countryside, in diapers, and without her hair styled! I was surprised to find her picking up sticks and stones from the floor to admire them while enjoying the feel of the green grass beneath her feet!

We also went horse riding with the girls. It was the funniest part of the whole trip. The horses were a bit old and didn’t really follow my commands. Though it may be because of the fact that I’ve only gone horse riding about 5 times in my life! I spent the whole hour just laughing with Luna.

Este vieje fue sin duda alguna uno de los MÁS BELLOS y significativos para mi vida! Déjenme y les cuento de una forma súper personal , tenia 5 años sin ver a mi papá y a mis abuelitos y les cuento porque...! Cuando salí embarazada de Luna hace 4 años atrás  hubo un problema muy grande con una plaga trasmitida por un mosquito, llamada Zika. En Estados Unidos hubo una alerta entre todos los doctores obstetricias ( doctores que atienden las mamis embarazadas) teníamos prohibido viajar a Rep. Dom. Y Mexico , mi doctora me dijo claramente Elisamar no puedo autorizarte viajar , luego llego Camila y la verdad entre el embarazo el parto y tener un recién nacido en la casa y un toddler , no pude planificar el viaje a ver mi papá.

Este Febrero 2018 decidimos comprar pasajes y planificar todo el viaje para ir a La República Dominicana y que bendición tan Grande. Estuve cada uno de mis días con mi papá! Comía , desayunaba , cenaba con el ! Se escucha una tontería pero después de no verlo por 5 años sin verlo , esto fue muy especial para mi.

Visitamos la capital de La Rep. Dom y allí descubrimos un restaurante llamado Pat’e Palo European Brasserie, restaurante albergado entre paredes 5 veces centenarias en el corazón de la Ciudad Colonial de Santo Domingo. El local ha sido testigo de la historia de esta isla, desde la época de los corsarios y piratas. Una verdadera experiencia en sabor y ambiente.

Caminamos por la Zona colonial y YO MÁS QUE FELIZ porque conseguí el tan buscado cuadro para mi comedor ! Uno gigante 45x70 😍 es gigante y hermoso.

Por primera vez en mi vida dejé a Camila caminar descalza por el campo, en diapers , sin peinar ! Y para mi fue una sorpresa verla recoger palos y piedras del piso y mirarlos admirada.

Fuimos a montar caballos con las niñas , fue la experiencia más graciosa del viaje, los caballos estaban bien viejitos y no obedecían muchos mis mandatos , aparte que solo he montado a Caballo 5 veces en mi vida! De verdad estuve la hora completa riéndome con Luna.
